Scarce 40mm Bofors Naval Ordnance factory cutaway with dummy round. Produced at the Blaw-Knox Special Ordnance Division plant in York, Pennsylvania, this is a cut down and cutaway 40mm Bofors barrel. No doubt made as a demonstration or training aid, this piece of (inert) ordnance is a superb remembrance of the fast firing antiaircraft guns that protected the ships of the US Navy in World War II.
About 18" long, shipping weight around 50 pounds. Excellent condition, some surface wear. Split to wood (readily repairable) on one of the uprights of the cradle.
